How We Started

Started in the fall of 2023 to provide students at Nation Ford High School another club option while encouraging competition in a respectful and disciplined culture. The club was opened to NFHS students as well as Middle School students residing in the High School's attendance area. The club was started by a parent with an interest in creating new opportunities for students interested in one of the fastest growing youth sports.

Our Aim
Our mission is to foster the development of character, discipline, and teamwork. We strive to create a safe, and supportive environment where students can grow their skills, build lasting friendships, and develop a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors and shooting sports. We are committed to promoting sportsmanship, firearm safety, respect, and responsibility and to helping our athletes reach their full potential, not only in Clay Sports, but also as individuals.

Nation Ford High School Sporting Clays Club is open to students from grades 6 – 12 that attend Nation Ford High School or are in the High School’s attendance area.

Participation in the club requires parental commitment and involvement. Tournaments are on weekends and in locations throughout the state. Athletes are responsible for supplying and maintaining their own equipment, as well as covering the costs associated with travel, tournaments, and practice sessions.

Our local practice location is Rocky Creek Sporting Clays located in Richburg, SC. Participants must attend the monthly Intra-Team tournaments at Rocky Creek and at least one additional squad / individual practice per month.

SCYSF requires one trained coach (head or assistant) per squad of competing athletes (i.e. one coach per three athletes). To meet this requirement and allow as many athletes to participate in competitions as possible, we rely on the team parents to complete the SCYSF Assistant Coach Training Course.
